My View

I am a Sydney based artist who enjoys adventuring and exploring the world.

My recent body of work reflects journeys to vast rugged landscapes rich in cultural and spiritual significance in the Australian Outback. Over a number of years I have journeyed to Gulkula, Borroloola and the West MacDonald Ranges in the Northern Territory and Fowlers Gap near Broken Hill in NSW.  Detailed field notes, sketches and en plein air paintings are made in the field and developed back in the studio.  The essence and mood of a place is captured only after time has been spent immersed in an environment throughout the changing light and colours of the day.

My art practice is about exploring the landscape with a fascination for the structures found in rock escarpments, waterholes, trees and seedpods. The motifs, often portrayed at ambiguous scale, are sometimes revisited from earlier works in an effort to make new associations.
